David Herter has over 35 years of experience as a banker and a trainer, and is President of Herter and Associates. Over the last 15 years, Herter has taught the full range of Pimley & Pimley’s corporate finance and credit curriculum at their principal investment and commercial banking clients in the United States, India, Africa, Europe, and Latin America.
Early in his career at FleetBoston, Herter was as a senior lender serving New England middle market clients in a broad range of industries. At this time, he also served as a training manager in the bank’s loan officer development program.
Herter then became Managing Director and Team Leader in the Media & Communications Group, with oversight responsibility for the bank’s $1.4 billion global cable TV portfolio. In that capacity he led the bank’s initiatives with domestic and Latin American cable companies, cable programmers and satellite operators.
Herter became Director of the Credit & Capital Markets Training group at FleetBoston Financial. In this capacity, Herter was responsible for developing and delivering credit and finance courses to over 5,000 corporate financiers, relationship managers, and credit professionals throughout the commercial bank and risk organization.
In addition, Herter ran the bank’s prestigious Corporate Banker Program that trained incoming financial analysts to become future leaders for Fleet. Finally, Herter was responsible for delivering a continuing education curriculum of over 40 seminars for experienced bankers throughout FleetBoston on subjects ranging from advanced credit to applied corporate finance and valuation disciplines.
Herter received a BA from Bowdoin College and an MA from Brown University.
